Why should I choose a private speech therapist?
Often, a child might not qualify for school- or community-based therapy even when a disorder is present, or their family might prefer more individualized therapy than is offered at their child's school.

Some parents choose to seek private speech therapy in addition to school-based therapy to help accelerate their child’s progress! Given consent, the school-based and private SLP’s can communicate about the child’s therapy plan.

Do you take insurance?

No. At this time, Mountain View Speech Pathology does not work with insurance companies. There are several reasons why we don’t take insurance.

Directly contracting with insurance companies would prevent us from offering discounted rates lower than that of the price established by the insurance company.

Insurance plans usually only offer a certain number of sessions per year (often only 12-20). I let the needs of each client drive therapeutic planning rather than being limited by insurance plans.

Insurance plans often require high deductibles, meaning that clients may have to spend thousands of dollars before the insurance coverage pays.

There are limitations on the types of communication diagnoses covered by the insurance. For example, some insurances may only cover an issue that occurred due to an accident or illness but will NOT cover anything that may be developmental or congenital.

However, a superbill is available upon request and may help you secure reimbursement from your insurance provider for out-of-network costs (depending on your plan). Provision of a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Prior to starting services, it is the caregiver’s responsibility to contact their insurance plan to secure any necessary pre-authorizations.
